What we believe

Our Commitments

We’ve placed our primary commitments in our name so that we never lose sight of them.

Undeserved
favor from an
unobligated giver

We are offered Jesus Christ and the redemptive rescue he brings, not because we are deserving, but because grace is at the heart of who God is.  As recipients of grace, we seek to offer genuine welcome to all and to live with confidence that God’s grace can bring rescue and redemption to anyone, anywhere.

A local embodiment
of God’s family

God graciously gathers together men, women, and children in union with him and one another through faith and baptism.  We seek to serve as God’s ambassadors wherever he takes us: blessed to be a blessing.

Planted
here with
a purpose

God has created his world, Marin included, to thrive and flourish.  We seek to love Marin according to God’s love, equipping one another to use their varied gifts and vocations for the good of our neighbors and the glory of God.

Our Beliefs

Grace Church of Marin in practice and belief is proudly located within the mainstream of the historic Christian faith as summarized and celebrated in the great catholic (universal) expressions: the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed.

We are also children of the Protestant Reformation and its emphasis on God's lordship and grace in all spheres of life. Helpful summaries of these views can be found in documents such as the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Heidelberg Catechism.

Denominationally, Grace Church of Marin is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in America.

Our Story

In 2006, under the leadership of our founding pastor, Rod Miles, a group began to gather with the hope that they might become a worshiping congregation through which God's flourishing might come to exist more beautifully and deeply in Marin County. Believing that the gospel is the good news that transforms not just souls but communities, cities and, one day, all things, they wanted a church that could be a blessing for Marin and beyond.

A congregation that began in living rooms and around dining tables soon began meeting at Olney Hall at College of Marin, before moving to the Marin Art and Garden Center and back to the College of Marin Cafeteria and Quadrangle. As we grew in number, we celebrated God’s grace in drawing our neighbors from Southern Marin, the Sir Francis Drake corridor, San Rafael, Novato, and beyond! We officially transitioned from church plant to particular church in 2012.

In October of 2020, Grace Church of Marin received the members of Red Hill Church in San Anselmo, joining with us in our mission. Red Hill Church had roots all the way back to July of 1928, when the Marin County Baptist Church was established, first meeting in a railcar for worship. This group of believers purchased a plot of land at 921 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. in October of 1930 to build a building and hold services.

God used this coming together to bless Grace Church of Marin in three ways. We added some wonderful people, a wonderful pastor (Michael Snearly), and a wonderful building at 921 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. in the heart of San Anselmo to call home.

In early 2024, convinced that Grace Church of Marin’s best days are still ahead of her, Pastor Rod announced his retirement from Grace Marin. He joyfully passed the baton of leadership to Pastor Michael Snearly in the summer of 2024. We invite you to join us as we look forward to what God will do in us and through us in the years to come!
