GraceKids

GraceKids exists to create a safe and loving environment to communicate the gospel to each child and family who attends Grace Marin. Our vision is to see children’s lives transformed by the gospel and in turn see the gospel transforming their families, neighborhoods and schools.

We believe:

  • Children are gifts from God and valuable members of the community. (Psalm 127:3, Matthew 19:14)
  • Children, just like adults, are sinful and in need of Christ’s saving love. (Romans 3:23; Romans 6:23)
  • Children can grow in faith and learn to make wise choices. (Luke 2:52; Proverbs 22:6)
  • The church must walk alongside the family to train children in godliness. (Deuteronomy 6:4-9)

Children of nursery and toddler age (infant to 3 years old) meet together in the Garden Room during the entire service and should be picked up by their parents when the worship service has ended. Activities throughout the morning include Bible stories, singing, free-play, crafts, and a healthy snack. The Nursery is supervised by Lorena Lotosh.

The Pre-K - 1st grade class uses the “First Look” curriculum. The teachers will focus on teaching the children these truths as they explore together the gospel throughout the Old and New Testament: God loves me, God made me, and God wants to be in relationship with me.

The spring quarter curriculum for 2nd-5th grade children is from the “Show Me Jesus” series and is entitled 1 Corinthians to Philemon. Teachers Craig Combs and Gwen Miles will explore with the children the 12 letters written by Paul to individuals and church communities which he wrote to explain great doctrines of faith as well as to give practical guidance to life as a follower of Christ.

CURRICULA

The “First Look” curriculum (myfirstlook.org) utilizes a variety of creative and interactive tools to engage the children including crafts, activities, worship time, application time, and prayer time to enhance the Bible story.

The “Show Me Jesus” curriculum published by Great Commission Publications (gcp.org) is a complete and systematic curriculum that teaches the Bible in an interactive and age-appropriate way with up-to-date visuals, lessons and activities.

All classes are team taught, allowing for low teacher-to-student ratios.
